Devil’s Washboard (Oni no Sentaku-iwa)
The “Devil’s Washboard,” designated as a National Natural Monument, is a rare wave-like rock formation extending around Aoshima and along the Nichinan Coast. This unique landscape was formed when rocks, once at the seabed, were uplifted by crustal movements and subsequently eroded by waves.
